Under The Influence of Stress Corey Ciocchetti-September 2015

We all live with stress.  Some days it is really high and other days we are calm, cool and collected.  If we could achieve the latter on a regular basis, then we all would live our days in peace.  Raising three or more boys does not lend a life of peace and harmony.  Then add on our personal goals, jobs outside the home and intimate relationships we have many stressful factors during the day.

Corey Ciocchetti lead Mom, Dads and high school boys through a series questions to rate each person's level of stress. A couple examples:

1.  Do you frequently race through the day?

2.  Do you frequently get angry when you are waiting?

3.  Do you frequently fail to put relaxation into every day?

(Refer to the book for the remainder of the questions)

Corey then gave us specific ways to simplify our lives and ways to create less stress.

Start by dividing up your Minor and Major Stresses.  Get rid of your Minor Stresses so you can focus on those Major Stresses.

Here's what you need to do:

!. Become an excellent decision maker.

2. Make priorities and a big picture of your life.

3. Avoid too many work activities.

4. Avoid seeking perfection from others.

5. Don't worry too much about the bad things that could happen.

6. Improve your lifestyle.

7. Be more flexible with your life.

8. Talk and be open to talking.

9. Watch the sunset.

10. Go to bed a little earlier.

11. Watch a cartoon.

12. Say and do something nice, especially to someone who can't pay you back.

13. Laugh, giggle & snort!

14. Pet a dog.

15. Take a walk.

16. Read something unrelated to work before you go to bed.

17. Give someone a hug & ask someone you love for a hug.

18. Play with a kid.

19. Clean up your room.

20. Take 5 deep breaths.

Work on 1 of these at a time for 2 weeks and then do the stress test again.  Your Stress level should go down!
